Turbo for slot cars – Microsoft Dynamics AX in the learning factory of the Vienna University of Technology
We are particularly pleased about our close cooperation with the Institute for Production Engineering and Laser Technology at the Vienna University of Technology which has been in place for several years. As part of this collaboration, we provide support to the Learning and Innovation Factory, a cooperation between the Institute for Production Engineering and Laser Technology, the Institute of Management Science and the Institute for Engineering Design and Logistics Engineering.
The occupation-based module Integrated Product Development is offered as part of the Mechanical Engineering and the Mechanical Engineering Management Bachelor programs. The aim of the module is to familiarize students with the entire production process in a demonstration laboratory – taking into account the link between product, production, technology, organization and people. Creating an accurate picture of the entire production and manufacturing process in an ERP system plays a key role here.
As of the 2014 summer semester, students will not just make their product, a slot car, themselves in the Learning and Innovation Factory using the basic formula analysis >> planning >> production, but will also visualize all of the relevant processes using Microsoft Dynamics AX – from creating the master data though making calculations and material scheduling to production and sales.
As a result of the many years of professional cooperation with Professor Burkhard Kittl, it is with particular pleasure that the experts from Solutions Factory want and are able to provide the Institute for Production Engineering with hands-on support to set up and run the AX 2012 environment, and thereby make a small contribution to a key task of the “Learning and Innovation Factory”, i.e. to provide an industry-relevant and integrated education for industrial engineers of the future!
