An overview and further details are available on the Support Lifecycle Policy Website.
How do Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 customers benefit from that?
During Mainstream Support, customers can submit support incidents and the product development team will continue to release updates to the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3. During the following Extended Support phase, support incidents can still be submitted, but Microsoft will only release security-related updates to the product. Customers with a Premier contract can pay additionally for hotfixes during that period.
The prolonged support timeline extends the availability of application updates by 3 years and gives customers more flexibility to choose the best timing for their business to upgrade to to Microsoft Dynamics AX, built on and for Azure.
